Tucked behind the hustle and bustle of Main Street is Newington's hidden gem, The Hidden Vine Wine Bar & Lounge. Owner Salvatore Motta created this popular spot for wine connoisseurs and diners hungry for gourmet fare. Mr. Motta's wine list features creative and unusual wines, perfect for the enthusiast, as well something for the wine novice. The décor has a Mediterranean feel with ceramic tiles, soft lighting and eye-pleasing artwork. The lounge area is long and narrow with combination table-booths and a small bar.
The Food: Nibble on lighter fare including bruschetta with hanger steak, gorgonzola and peach honey, or an eggplant and fresh mozzarella tower. Motta uses many of his mother's sauce and pasta recipes, and she continues to make homemade pasta such as gnocch and manicotti. His father bakes bread daily. The incredible executive chef Kevin Corso puts it all together with his innovative twist on traditional Italian recipes.
